It’s funny thinking that the Dakar ends up getting stuck in a traffic jam.. but realistically until the field gets spread out that is what happens. There’s not a viable way around and that other guy proved it. Teams are much better off stopping and helping to clear it than damaging the car trying to get around.

I thought Dakar was not a thing, much, any more because terrorism and other ugliness. But you’d have to not mind chafing because sand in everything.

I love that I’ve seen several examples of fierce competitors co ming to the aid on each other when they see trouble. Sure its practical but sometimes its checking up to make sure people are actually okay.

Part of me wonders what it would be like to enter the Dakar not with the intention of winning, but of helping as many people as possible.

For someone who just started following the Dakar on YouTube, there's still a number of aspects that I find confusing.
